Are you excited for Super Bowl 2025?
The Chiefs are at it again, and this year they are fighting against the San Fransisco 49ers!
And what better way to celebrate this annual festivity than with friends, snacks, and beer?
By celebrating on a budget of course!
Because buying up all the snacks, drinks, and team jerseys can get pretty expensive. And no one wants to worry about money when they are supposed to be celebrating. So check out these 3 ways to save money celebrating for the Super Bowl.
1. Share The Load
Invite friends over, or celebrate at a friend’s house.
The benefit of having a bunch of friends together for a celebration is that this often opens the doors to a variety of snacks, beverages, and even team apparel, banners, and decor. Plus, if you’re celebrating at your friend’s house, you will have less to clean up. Just don’t be a snob!
When you are making plans on when and where to get together with your friends, come up with a list of the food that each person is bringing. You should all agree on at least 2-3 types of snacks that everyone likes. And then you can decide separately what different snacks each person is bringing. This helps to distribute a lot of the responsibility and cost.
Assigning snack responsibilities can reduce the risk of cold feet for introverts. I am often included in this list, so don’t feel bad if this is you too!
And what a great way for everyone to try the unique and interesting recipe that only your pal Earl knows how to make!
And if you don’t like having ‘way too many leftovers’, having friends over usually helps with this problem as well.
If you have crafty friends or family members, this is an excellent opportunity for them to show off and share their amazing skills. Maybe even advertise their brand a bit too. They might craft some team jerseys with the quarterback’s number, or name. Or have a banner cut-out of the team name, and even face paint. There are limitless possibilities for the crafty guru.
Now when it comes to cleaning, it is always, always better with help. If you are hosting, ask your guests to clean up their trash, and dishes, and take any unwanted leftovers home. And if you are the guest, be sure to follow this same courtesy. If you recycle, let your guests know where they can put recyclables.
I will always recommend using actual dish ware for gatherings versus paper, or styrofoam disposable plates. While this may seem more sanitary, and sure it probably is in most cases, it is very wasteful when it is so easy to use actual dish ware.
If you have children joining the party, it is probably safer if you use a lightweight plastic plate. Plus these deep dish plates are great to have for parties and gatherings anyway, so if you want to grab a stock of these, this is a great opportunity to do so.
Otherwise, the dishes and glasses you have on hand, are probably more than suitable for Super Bowl 2025!
Or, ask your bougie, stylish friend to bring over some beautiful plates, and have everyone bring their own glass. After all, what’s a party without a little BYOG (bring your own glass) for your BYOB (bring your own beer)?
2. Share A Streaming Service To Watch The Game
For most everyone in the 21st century, watching movies, shows, and even Super Bowl 2025 has become simplified by streaming services. This year, it looks like Fox will be the main live-streaming service available. So, many services that stream Fox shows and movies are also likely to offer the Super Bowl as well.
Some of the services that are offering the Super Bowl are Hulu+live TV, Sling, YouTube Live TV, and some apps on Roku, just to name a few. If you are interested in the Puppy Bowl, it looks like HBO Max and Discovery Plus are also offering this as well.
However, with the number of streaming services available anymore, there will likely be no reason you won’t have access to watch Super Bowl 2025.
If neither you nor your friends have any of the services available, there is always the option to sign up for a free trial for any one of these services. Just make sure that your free trial is available during that time frame, on February 12th, 2025. And if you don’t want to keep that subscription, don’t forget to cancel within the free trial period!
And be aware that some services may have restrictions on the sharing of accounts, so if this is a concern for you, make sure to check your user agreement for the rules on this.

3. Make Your Own Spread
Aside from having a bunch of store-bought snacks, you also have the choice to make your own. If you decide to have a friends and family gathering, this is usually simple enough to have each person bring a homemade treat. But, if you choose to have a smaller get-together, or need to socially unwind but still participate in the game, then you can make your own spread.
I am very much in favor of any and all dips and chips. This can be simple sour cream and onion with wavy chips. Or a fancier 5-layer dip with beans, guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and olives (or other garnish) with regular salted chips.
Any type of cookie works great for almost every party, but if you want to fancy things up a little you can always use team-oriented frosting colors with sugar cookies. Maybe even try out your decorating skills and draw out jersey numbers or names.
Another great snack that is simple enough to make on your own includes tacos! Tacos are always a great option for large, or small groups. It is so easy for everyone to try a little bit of what they like, and eat as much as they want too. You can prepare one or several types of meat, soft or hard shells, different cheeses, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, olives, tomatoes and/or salsa, and more. The options can get pretty limitless if you decide to get a bit wild.
So, if you want to save some money, try a taco spread and have tons of options for you and your guests.
