A while back I was looking for just about any way to make a little extra cash in my free time. Whether it was holiday shopping, or just trying to have some extra money on hand to pay for things, I certainly wouldn’t have said no to a few more dollars in the bank.

So, I started looking around and found a few different survey sites. I was already familiar with a couple of them, but I wanted to try and find a few more to see if I could get the most out of my free time.

Top Survey Apps to Earn Extra Cash in 2025

These are the top survey sites that I have signed up for this last year and I have already started earning rewards points. There are other survey sites and cash apps out there, but these are the ones that I have been working with so far.

How Do You Earn Cash With Survey Sites?

Most survey sites will give you reward points when you complete different tasks. When you have enough points, you can cash out and choose from hundreds of gift cards, a Visa Mastercard, or PayPal cash.

Typically, this is just a digital gift card so you can use the bar code at checkout, or online when you’re shopping.

In the past when I’ve earned Amazon gift cards I just submit the code in the “gift card” section of my account.

*Quick tips! I recommend keeping all of your apps in the same folder on your phone so you can quickly and easily switch between them, especially when taking photos of your receipts.

Answering Questions

This usually takes place in the form of a survey. Some are fairly short, like a few minutes, and some are a bit longer. While most survey sites will pay you up to a few dollars per survey, User Interviews is a bit more unique in that they pay much higher rates.

You may not be a good fit for every survey, so there are times when you won’t be able to finish every one you start.

Taking Photos of Receipts

Taking photos of my receipts is one of my favorite ways to earn extra cash. With a few of the survey apps I have signed up for, I can take photos with each of them and get credit for the same receipt. So essentially I can double up on points.

Think about how many purchases you make every day, week, month, and throughout an entire year. Now, imagine if you got paid a little bit for each one of those. Pretty awesome right?

Inbox Dollars, Fetch, and Swagbucks are the apps I use to get paid for photos of my receipts.

Playing Games

Some survey apps will pay you to play games like word search, solitaire, and other games that you likely already have on your phone. Some of these games you will have to download later, and some of the games are integrated into your survey or cash app already.

Share Your Shopping Trends

You can connect your shopping accounts, like Amazon and Walmart, to different survey apps and they will track how you shop. This helps businesses better understand what customers look for when they shop, and how they shop so that they can provide a better experience for customers.

User Interviews

This platform is an interview-based platform that typically requires access to a computer with a webcam. Most of the interviews available require a little bit more of your time but also pay much more than just about any other survey platform out there. Here are some other ways to make money from your laptop.

The reason I wanted to mention this one first is that this was the first platform on which I first cashed out. I’ve used Swagbucks and Survey Junkie before, but they took a little longer before I could cash in my rewards.

The screenshot below is a list of a few of the interviews that I could apply to a while back. As you can see, these pay far more than any of the other surveys that I have seen from other platforms. One of the interviews is offering $200 for 2 hours of your time.

*Quick tip – To have the most success with User Interviews, I recommend completing the screening for at least 5-10 surveys a month. Since you may not be a good fit for all, this gives you a good opportunity to finish at least 1-2 of them.

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is probably one of the most well-known survey apps out there. It is super easy to sign up for and start earning real cash. This was one of the early apps that I started earning on as well.

With this platform, each point is worth 1 penny. And, occasionally, they will offer bonuses. Especially during the holiday season.

Swagbucks

This is probably one of my top 3 favorites because there are so many ways to earn with this app. With Swagbucks, you can earn points with surveys, playing games, and even taking photos of your receipts.

Each Swagbuck point is worth 1 penny, similar to Survey Junkie. So, as you can see in the screenshot I have below, I have a little over $10 worth of Swagbucks rewards (aka – 1K SB). I just haven’t decided where I want to cash it in yet!

Fetch

I had a friend recently introduce me to this app. They mainly give you points for snapping photos of your receipts, and you can also get bonuses on specific items. Typically, any receipts you do snap photos of will need to be within the last 14 days or so.

You can also connect your other online shopping accounts as well to get credit from those digital receipts. I have my Amazon account connected, so every once in a while I will check in to the app, and it will look for any receipts from the last 30 days.

Inbox Dollars

Inbox Dollars is another great cash-earning app that pays you to answer questions. With this app, you don’t earn points; instead, you earn the cash value directly. Some are only a few cents, and others are a few dollars.

Eureka

Eureka is another survey app that pays you in cash rather than with rewards points. So keeping track of your progress is a bit easier. You can cash out when you have reached $5, so you don’t have to wait for too long to start spending your rewards.

Five Surveys

Five surveys is pretty much exactly how it sounds. Once you complete 5 surveys, you will get paid $5. As I’ve mentioned before, unfortunately, sometimes you won’t always be a good fit for every survey, so you may have to start a few before you find the right one.

But, with this app, you are guaranteed $5 after completing 5 surveys, so you are getting $1 per survey. Considering some surveys in other apps only pay 25 cents for a few minutes I’d say this isn’t too bad a deal.

KashKick

This is another app that pays you to complete surveys, play games, and they even have daily giveaways for a chance to earn $10, $25, $50, $75, and $100 cash prizes. These daily giveaways are rewarded at midnight each day.

Unfortunately, this app doesn’t pay you for photos of your receipts, but it does pay you to play games, which is still a win in my books.

What are Survey Sites, and How Do They Work?

Survey sites are platforms or phone apps where companies and businesses can gather information from customers, like yourself, to better understand how people use their products and services.

They will pay you for your time and effort in answering questions in surveys and you can cash out points and rewards for gift cards and sometimes even PayPal cash.

Most platforms offer a choice from hundreds of gift cards to places like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Starbucks, and many more places you likely already shop at. Otherwise, you can choose PayPal cash or even a reloadable Visa Mastercard.

Tips to Earn More From Cash Apps

Each cash app is a bit different so it’s important to know the rules of each one. Not all will have surveys, not all pay for photos of receipts, and some give rewards points while others show your earnings as a cash value.

If you use any of these apps that have surveys, it’s important to follow the guidelines so you don’t get disqualified for surveys or future earnings. This should not be an issue, but some rules may be enforced. You will not be a suitable pick for every survey, so don’t get discouraged and keep applying to new ones.

Give yourself enough time to answer the questions and don’t rush through them. The app tracks how quickly you answer questions, and how thorough your responses are as well.

Below I took a screenshot from one of my apps, and it encourages you to carefully respond to questions. Again, not every survey is going to be a good fit for you, so you won’t always be able to do every survey you start.

If you have signed up for more than one cash app that pays you for receipts, you can always try taking photos of the receipt in both apps to see if it qualifies for both.

Final Thoughts on Survey Sites to Make Extra Cash

While survey sites will not make you big bucks, and certainly won’t make you a full-time income, they are a great way to earn some extra cash in your spare time. If you spend a just few minutes during lunch breaks, or ad breaks when watching your favorite shows, then you might as well be getting paid a little for it.

My personal favorite is User Interviews since they pay so much more. But, I think that Fetch and Swagbucks has become a close second for me as well, especially since you can get paid to take photos of your receipts.

There is no risk in signing up and getting started with these survey platforms, and you are even helping companies provide better products and services to their customers. So, why not get paid to answer questions in your free time?
