If you’re considering whether or not a membership with Amazon Prime is worth it or not, I want to share with you why I won’t go back to not having one.
First off, all of the benefits combined are well worth more than the $15 per month membership.
If you consider the cost of most other memberships you may already have, you will actually save money if you join Amazon Prime.
By my calculations, if you take advantage of even just 2 of Amazon Prime features, you have already gotten your money’s worth. For most features, you are getting $54 worth in value with a Prime membership, and more if you take advantage of any discounts and deals.
- GrubHub+ ($10/month value)
- Prime Video (an average of $10/month value compared to most streaming services)
- Prime Gaming (~$10/month value compared to Gamepass)
- Amazon Music ($12/month value compared to Spotify)
- Amazon Photos ($2-10+/month for cloud photo storage)
- Prime Reading (~$10+/month for free ebooks, magazines, etc.)
- Prime Medications (80%+ savings on medications and healthcare)
- And more savings on shopping (potentially hundreds or more in savings)

Amazon Prime Benefits You Didn’t Know You Needed
Amazon Prime has been around for a while, and with all of the included benefits, it’s easy to see why it’s worth every penny.
As a college student, I was able to get a discount on Prime, since the free two-day delivery made it much easier to get textbooks and other school supplies I didn’t know I needed until classes started. This was a life saver, and also saved me a lot of money since I could do some comparison shopping online.
But, there are so many other Prime benefits that I had no idea existed until just the other day. So, I want to share these great bonuses with you so you can make sure you’re taking advantage of them too!
You can try Amazon Prime free for 30 days to take advantage of all of the Prime benefits and save $1786 like I did last year.
Delivery Benefits of Amazon Prime
You’re probably aware of the famous and popular free two-day shipping. This was the biggest seller when Prime first came out, and to this day is often one of the biggest reasons people join.
However, there are also tons of other benefits to this $ 15-a-month membership besides the free two-day shipping.

1. Free Two-Day Delivery
Given that there are many people who sign up specifically for this service, there are millions of items that can be delivered with this two-day time frame.
Unfortunately, not everything that is sold on Amazon has the two-day delivery option. But, most items do have this option in just about every category. If you have a business, kids, or pets, sometimes the two-day delivery comes in clutch for last-minute or emergency needs.
2. Free One-Day Delivery
The free one-day Prime Day delivery has over 15 million items on its list. There aren’t nearly as many items to pick from in the one-day delivery, but there are some things that can be helpful for last-minute needs.
I personally don’t choose many one-day delivery items, but occasionally I will stumble upon a few products I need that can get delivered in a day.

3. Free Same-Day Delivery
Because of the urgency of same-day delivery, this feature is limited to certain locations in the U.S. But, if you live in a metro area city, chances are you have this feature available to you.
You can check to see if you are eligible here.
4. Two-Hour Grocery Delivery
This is a great feature for those who live a busy lifestyle. With the option to get groceries delivered in just a couple of hours, you can easily add last-minute items and things you forgot to grab earlier in the week to your delivery.
Unfortunately, this service is somewhat limited and not available in every city or town. It’s typically limited to large cities only. You can check here to see if you’re city is eligible for two-hour grocery delivery.
5. Free Grubhub+
This is a pretty awesome feature I just discovered recently. I have had Amazon Prime for a while and didn’t realize the Grubhub+ was an included feature. This was something that was started in July in 2022, but became a permanent feature of Amazon Prime in May of 2024.
With free Grubhub+, you can get free delivery on any order over $12. Which, in most cases is about a two-person meal, or leftovers for one. This is definitely a great feature on its own, and saves you $10 a month in the cost of that membership itself.
You can join Amazon Prime today to also take advantage of the included $ 10-month membership of Grubhub+.
6. Amazon Key
If you have a garage in your home, you can take advantage of the in-garage delivery offered by Amazon. You can do this by setting up your Smart Garage so the driver can place your packages inside your garage.
This can be a great security feature if you get frequent packages and have concerns about your packages being stolen. You can learn more about Amazon Key and see if it is offered in your area.
7. Free Release-Date Delivery
If you enjoy video games, reading, and other entertainment like music and movie, then the free release-date delivery feature of Prime is a great bonus for you.
You can get new video games, books, music, movies, and other things delivered to you by 7 p.m. on the date.

8. Free No-Rush Shipping
If you aren’t picky about when you get your items, you can take advantage of the no-rush delivery of Prime and get your package at a later time to reduce carbon emissions.
By selecting this option, you can also get rewards for future purchases.

9. Amazon Day
This is another feature for those with a busy lifestyle. If you are often away from home, you can get any packages you buy delivered on the same day of the week. So, if you prefer your deliveries on the weekends, this is a great feature to take advantage of.
Streaming Services and Other Digital Benefits of Amazon Prime
10. Prime Video
I’m sure you’ve seen some snippets from different scenes of popular shows that are on Prime video. Turns out, I have a few favorites I love to watch on Prime including “Rings of Power”, “Fallout” and a few other shows and movies that I love.
Prime Video offers a selection of over 2200 free shows and movies included in its membership. For other similar streaming services, you are already paying around $10 every month.
So, given that video streaming is an included feature, you are getting a decent bang for your buck.
11. Amazon Music
As a member of Prime, you get access to over 100+ million songs and tracks for free, with no ad breaks. This feature alone makes an Amazon Prime membership worth the price because a similar membership with Spotify will cost you $12 a month for an individual.
And, at $15 a month, a Prime membership is just a few more dollars for all of the other benefits.
Quite a deal, wouldn’t you say?
12. Amazon Music Unlimited ($10 a Month with Prime)
Amazon Music Unlimited is a bit of a different feature that Amazon offers. With Amazon Music, if you are a Prime member, you are already getting access to millions of songs for free without ads.
Now, the difference here is that Amazon Music Unlimited offers HD and spatial audio, and allows you to listen on multiple devices. But, as a member of Prime, you can get a discount on the Music Unlimited feature.
You can learn more about the other features of Amazon Music Unlimited.
13. Prime Gaming
Prime Gaming is a feature that I wasn’t really aware of for a while. But, there are actually some decent games included in this feature that I have played before. I pay for Gamepass, which is a $10 membership to get access to hundreds of games on my console.
However, with Prime Gaming, there are some great games that I have already played and really enjoy, like “The Outer Worlds”, “Fallout 3”, “Fallout New Vegas”, “Fortnite”, “Close to the Sun” and my husband has play games like “Jurassic World Evolution”, “Baldurs Gate”, and more.
Plus, with Amazon Prime Gaming, you can get access to a free monthly Twitch subscription.
14. Amazon Photos
This is a feature that allows you to store unlimited full-resolution images that you can easily print later if you would like. Plus, you can also store up to 5GB of video too. You can also connect your photos to your Echo Show (I use this one in my home) or Fire TV.

Shopping Benefits of Amazon Prime
15. Prime Member Deals at Whole Foods Market
Since Whole Foods Market is not available in some locations, you may not be able to benefit from this as much. But, there are over 500 stores available in the U.S. that offer pickup at curbside or in-store.
There are hundreds of grocery items available with exclusive discounts for Prime members only. So if you want to make meal planning easy, Amazon Prime can make that a big easier.
If you’re looking for other ways to save money on groceries and meal planning, I recommend taking a look at this $5 meal plan membership that includes recipes for you to make meals for under $2 each.
16. Prime Member Deals at Amazon Fresh
This is another feature that isn’t available at certain locations either. However, if it is available near you, you will get access to exclusive deals on groceries, and receive coupons and more.
There are also weekly deals you can take advantage of which are up to 50% off or more. Some of the deals include fresh produce, meats, breads, and more.
17. Prime Day
Prime Day includes a lot of savings options on shopping. You will get exclusive discounts and deals (in every category) that are only available to Prime members.
You can check out some of these sales here.
18. Prime Exclusive Deals
Exclusive deals is another Prime member-only feature that allows you to take advantage of discounts and sales.
They may not be super high discounts on every item, but overall this is a great way to save some extra money.
19. Prime Visa
Prime Visa Amazon Prime members can apply for the Prime Visa, which gives you 5% back on all Amazon purchases, plus rewards on other spending categories like dining, gas, and travel.
This can be a great way to maximize savings if you shop on Amazon frequently, do lots of traveling, or eat out fairly often.

20. Prime Store Card
The Prime Store Card is another financing option that gives you 5% back on Amazon purchases. It also offers special financing options for larger purchases, making it a useful tool for big-ticket items.
I have not given this a try yet, but if I shopped from Amazon for my business, I definitely would be getting this card.
21. Amazon Prime Secured Card
For those looking to build or rebuild their credit, the Amazon Prime Secured Card is a solid option. It offers the same 5% cashback on Amazon purchases while helping you establish a strong credit history.
While you are building back your credit with this card, after 12 months of successful credit building, you will have the option to turn this card into a store card.
22. Prime Early Access
Prime Early Access Prime members get early access to Lightning Deals and other early holiday shopping deals as well, which means you can snag the best discounts before they sell out. If you love saving money while you shop, this feature alone makes Prime worth considering
23. Prime-Exclusive Shipping Benefits of Woot!

24. Buy With Prime

And, if you are a business, adding this feature to your business can be a great way to boost your regular sales. One company even saw a 40% increase in conversions after adding this feature to their business.
25. Reading Benefits
Reading Benefits Amazon Prime is great for book lovers! In addition to free eBooks, there are more reading perks that can save you money and expand your library.

26. Prime Reading
This was something I learned about more recently too. It turns out that there are some freebies that you can add to your reading list. These include magazines, books, comics, and more.
Rather than collecting a ton of books in your Kindle library, however, Prime reading is set up so that you can only borrow a limited amount of reading material at one time. So, if you want to read a dozen different books, you will need to ‘return’ some of them before borrowing more.
This is a fairly simple trade-off that I am okay with.
27. Amazon First Reads
With Amazon First Reads, members get early access to new books from popular authors before they are officially released. This is a great way to discover new reads before everyone else, or just stay ahead of trends.
28. Books with Audible Narration
Many Prime Reading books come with free Audible narration, allowing you to switch between reading and listening. If you love audiobooks, this is an excellent perk to take advantage of.
Medical and Prescription Benefits
While I personally don’t use the medication or prescription feature, I know that I do have friends and family who live in rural areas, or are unable to get out of their house very easily.
So, a feature like prescription delivery, and money savings would be an excellent alternative for them. Especially when paired up with Amazon day delivery, or other delivery options.
29. RxPass
RxPass is a Prime-exclusive subscription service that offers unlimited access to select generic medications for just $5 per month. If you take regular prescriptions, this can lead to huge savings.
The average member saves 38% on medications, and you have a selection of over 50 commonly prescribed medications. This can especially be helpful for those without insurance, or when medications aren’t covered by insurance. You can learn more about this Prime feature here.
30. One Medical
One Medical offers Prime members discounted access to high-quality, concierge-style healthcare. This means faster appointments, virtual care, and easier access to doctors. You can either choose the $9/month option, or choose a one-time $49 pay-per-visit.
This can be a pretty great option for those who may live in rural areas, have difficulties getting out of their home to visit a doctor, and even those with big or busy families who may need a quick virtual visit.
31. Delivery on Prescriptions
You can have your prescriptions delivered right to your door, often with free two-day shipping. This is especially convenient if you take medications regularly, but don’t have easy access to a pharmacy.
Same-day delivery is limited to specific cities, but most other locations deliver in less than 4 days.
32. Save on Prescriptions by Comparing
Prime members can use Amazon’s price comparison tool to find the best prices on their medications, whether it’s at Amazon Pharmacy or a local pharmacy.
You can compare your prescription prices through my link here.
Here’s an example of a comparison for an Albuterol inhaler.

Other Fun Benefits of Amazon Prime!
33. Share Your Prime Benefits
Did you know you can share your Prime membership with family members? With Amazon Household, you can share your benefits with one other adult and up to four kids.
You can sign up and share your prime benefits with your family members here.
34. Free Shipping a ShopBop

Check out some of the different fashions and styles to see what’s available.
35. Free Titles at Audible
With Prime, you get access to a rotating selection of free audiobooks from Audible. If you love listening to books, this is a great way to enjoy more content without spending extra money. I’ve definitely grabbed a few of these and checked them out.
And, since it is a rotating selection, I’m always getting access to new things.
36. Free Upgraded Shipping at Zappos
Prime members also get free upgraded shipping on all Zappos orders. If you love shopping for shoes, clothing, and other great accessories, this is a great way to get your orders faster from Zappos.
37. Prime Fuel Savings
Prime Fuel Savings Through Amazon’s partnership with select gas stations, Prime members can enjoy discounts on fuel. This is an awesome way to save on everyday expenses.
You can activate your fuel savings to start saving up to $70 or more a year.
Final Thoughts on Unknown Amazon Prime Benefits You Need to Try
I personally love having access to my Prime benefits. While I wouldn’t have thought to ever try this membership in the past, after I started using it as a student in college, I pretty much couldn’t go back to not having it.
It has not only saved me well over $1,500 or more each year, but I still benefit from the streaming features and all the reading material I have access to with my Prime benefits.
Plus, my other family members also benefit from this membership, so it’s always worth the price to me.
